Men are often criticized for turning over and sleeping on their ass after sex, but they may have good reasons for this.
First, the most obvious reason why men feel sleepy after sex is the sleep-inducing “rocking back and forth” part of sex. This work is usually done at night and in bed, and it is a very tiring job. It is often much more tiring for men than for women. Therefore, when sex is over, it is natural for men to feel physically tired and sleepy.
Secondly, studies conducted with positron emission tomography show that in order for a person to reach orgasm, he must put aside all fear and anxiety. This may cause a relaxing and sleep-inducing effect.
Thirdly, orgasm also has its own biochemistry. Studies show that when men ejaculate, their brains release a cocktail of chemicals. these chemicals include norepinephrine, serotonin, oxytocin, vasopressin, nitric oxide and prolactin. prolactin is associated with sexual satisfaction. It is also the hormone that determines the renewal time required for men to prepare for sex again. As all men know, they have to wait a certain amount of time before “doing it one more time”. This is the time of renewal. Research shows that men who are low in prolactin can have sex more frequently.
Prolactin levels are naturally higher during sleep. In animal experiments, it is seen that animals injected with prolactin immediately become sleepy. This shows that there is a strong relationship between prolactin and sleep. Therefore, the secretion of the hormone during orgasm may be the reason why men feel sleepy.
