Qualcomm unveiled its newest mobile chipset called Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.
Produced with 4 nm technology, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 promises considerable performance for a more affordable price compared to the Snapdragon 8 series.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 has a less powerful processor unit compared to other options in the Snapdragon 7 series. In addition, it must be said that the image signal processor is not very impressive. For these reasons, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is positioned slightly lower. It is stated that the chip set may first appear in the Redmi Note 13 series, which is expected to be introduced this month. It can be said that the name chosen by Qualcomm is confusing. Because there is no chipset named 7s Gen 1 or 7 Gen 2. It is not known what the letter “S” here means.
However, it is clear that Qualcomm has sacrificed some features. Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 has four 2.4 GHz and four 1.95 GHz cores. Although no information is given about the Adreno GPU model, it is known to offer Full HD + resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate support. The FastConnect 6700 connection platform is also a step back compared to the FastConnect 6900 in Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. The maximum download speed reaches 2.9 Gbps. Bluetooth 5.2 support is also available on the chipset.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 comes with 200 MP camera support
The Spectra image signal processor provides support for a single camera with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels and 4K 30 fps video recording. Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, which also offers USB-C 3.1 and Quick Charge 4+ support, also supports up to LPDRR5 RAM at 3200 MHz.
Qualcomm has not yet given a schedule for the release of devices with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processors.
