n modern history, there are 2 dates that divided the World into before and after.
First is 9/11.
Second is February 24, 2022.
In both cases, the world faced an unprecedented terrorist threat.
And if in the first case the world was dealing with a terrorist organization, now it’s a terrorist country.
I don’t believe that Russia in its current state is able to reform, which would require repentance and remorse. Not only for the crimes of Putin’s regime, but for the crimes of the USSR and post-USSR Russian Federation — the First Chechen War was ordered by Yeltsin.
I’m not sure there is a force in the world that can make Russia go through that. And even less likely that this force can form within Russia.
It is more likely that Russia will regress further and faster towards the North Korean level of oppression and degradation, and will self-isolate behind the Iron Curtain V.2. And then it will quietly rot until the end of 21st century.
Unless, of course, there is a powerful external push and the breakup of the Russian Federation. But then, it will be a completely different set of states.
