Asian markets fell as investors weighed Chinese industrial data and Australian inflation figures.
Asia-Pacific markets were mixed as investors evaluated China’s industrial data and Australia’s August inflation figures to be released on Wednesday.
Australia’s weighted inflation rate increased by 5.2 percent on an annual basis in August, in line with economists’ expectations, while headline inflation was 5.5 percent.
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.14 percent, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 0.77 percent, leading losses in Asia, and the Topix lost 0.76 percent.
South Korea’s Kospi index fell 0.1 percent, but the Kosdaq rose 0.37 percent.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.56 percent, reversing losses since Tuesday, while the mainland’s CSI 300 index was marginally higher.
